Frequently asked questions
What is Cobafast 1500mcg Injection?
Cobafast 1500mcg Injection contains cobalamin, also known as vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that your body needs to produce red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food, and it works together with vitamin B11 (folate) for various bodily functions.
Why may I have difficulty getting enough Vitamin B12 from my diet?
You can obtain vitamin B12 through foods like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, vegetarians or vegans might not get sufficient B12 as it's not naturally found in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, deficiency of vitamin B12 is common among these groups.
What are the consequences of a Vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia. Anemia is characterized by large red blood cells that don't function optimally. It may also cause nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, memory problems, sore mouth or tongue.
Is Cobafast 1500mcg Injection safe?
Cobafast 1500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, some individuals may experience mild side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and skin rash. If you experience any of these symptoms, discontinue the medication immediately.
How should Cobafast 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Cobafast 1500mcg Injection can be given through a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 0.5 mg of Cobafast 1500mcg Injection and it is typically administered three times weekly. After two months, the dose is reduced to once every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions should I take when administering Cobafast 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting at the same site repeatedly. If you encounter intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert at a different location.
