How it works
Clobisal Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Clobetasol and Salicylic Acid. Clobetasol is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Clobetasol into the skin.
Quick Tips
Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily or as advised by your doctor. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor as this may increase the risk of side effects. After you have applied Clobisal Ointment, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area). Use a mild moisturizer regularly to overcome the skin dryness during the course of treatment. Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.

Frequently asked questions
How to apply Clobisal Ointment for best results?
Follow your doctor's or product instructions for usage. Apply a thin layer of ointment over the affected area, ensuring sufficient coverage. The usual application is 2-3 times daily on the skin where treatment is needed. Always wash your hands thoroughly after using the ointment unless it's specifically used to treat skin infection on the hands.
When should I stop using Clobisal Ointment, if symptoms are gone?
You should not discontinue using Clobisal Ointment just because your symptoms have eased. Continue with the full course of treatment, even after you feel better. Your symptoms might improve before the disease is fully treated.
What precautions are necessary when using Clobisal Ointment?
Avoid applying this ointment to your face. Do not use it for longer periods than recommended. Also, avoid covering the area with a bandage or dressing as these actions can increase absorption and risk of side effects. This medicine should only be used by the patient, not given to anyone else, even if they have similar symptoms.
Can I use more Clobisal Ointment for faster results?
No, using more than prescribed does not make Clobisal Ointment more effective. Overusing the medicine can lead to too much absorption and result in thinning or weakening of the skin along with other possible side effects. If your symptoms are worsening, contact your doctor for a review of your condition.
How should I store and dispose of Clobisal Ointment?
Store this medicine in its original container or packaging, tightly sealed. Follow the storage instructions given on the product label. Never consume unused medication and make sure it's not accessible to pets, children, or other individuals.
