How it works
Clipclav Duo Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Clipclav Duo Dry Syrup?
Clipclav Duo Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Inform your child's doctor about all medications they are currently taking before starting this medication. Always consult your child's healthcare provider regarding administering any new medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Clipclav Duo Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, a delay in vaccination may be necessary after an illness until the child fully recovers and feels better. If your child shows improvement in symptoms, they can receive their vaccinations.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Clipclav Duo Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
In long-term therapy, the doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to assess your child's overall condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Clipclav Duo Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a higher dose than recommended can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences symptom aggravation, contact their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Clipclav Duo Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not discontinue this medication until completion of the full treatment course, even if your child feels better. Symptoms may improve before complete infection clearance. Continue treatment for the recommended duration as it could be providing beneficial effects.
Can the use of Clipclav Duo Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, diarrhea is a possible side effect of this antibiotic. It kills harmful bacteria but may also disrupt the normal balance of gut bacteria and contribute to diarrhea. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to drink adequate fluids. Consult their doctor if diarrhea persists or you notice signs of dehydration (e.g., decreased urination, dark-colored urine with a strong odor) before administering any other medication.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral infections do not lead to bacterial infections unless they are complicated by other factors. Antibiotics should only be used after consulting your child's doctor for a proper diagnosis and guidance.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green nasal discharge is a common symptom of a viral cold and is not necessarily an indication of bacterial infection. During a typical cold, the mucus can thicken and change color from clear to yellow or green. These symptoms usually last for 7-10 days. If you are concerned, it is best to consult your child's doctor.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
In case of a severe allergic reaction (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea) or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), contact your child's doctor immediately. While these side effects are rare, they require prompt medical attention.
