Introduction
Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup?
Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. It is essential to inform your child's healthcare provider about all other medications they are taking before starting Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup. Consulting your child’s doctor before administering any medicine to your child is crucial.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is recommended to postpone vaccination until your child recovers from the illness and their doctor advises otherwise. Once they feel better, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
In situations where prolonged therapy is needed, the doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to ensure your child’s condition remains stable.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup to my child?
No, administering a dose greater than the recommended amount can increase the risk of adverse reactions. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult with their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop giving this medicine to your child unless the entire course of treatment is complete. Even if you feel better, the infection might still be curing. Therefore, continue administering the medication as per doctor's prescription for a full duration.
Can the use of Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Clavspark Duo Dry Syrup can lead to diarrhea. This is because it works by killing harmful bacteria in the body. Additionally, this medicine might affect the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach and result in diarrhea. If diarrhea occurs, encourage your child to drink plenty of water or other fluids. Consult a doctor if diarrhea persists and you notice any signs of dehydration (e.g., reduced urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine). Do not administer any medications without consulting a doctor first.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
While most viral infections do not lead to secondary bacterial infection, it's important to note that antibiotics are generally only prescribed for bacterial infections. It is best to consult a healthcare professional before using them in a case of a viral cold.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection. It's normal for mucus to thicken up and change color during a common cold. Symptoms typically last for 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Call your child’s doctor immediately if they experience severe allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rash), gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, pallor, vomiting). Although rare, these side effects are serious and require professional medical attention.
