How it works
Clavotrol P Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents, amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Clavotrol P Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Clavotrol P Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Clavotrol P Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Clavotrol P Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Clavotrol P Dry Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty.

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Clavotrol P Dry Syrup?
Clavotrol P Dry Syrup can sometimes interact with other medications or substances. It is crucial to inform your child's doctor about all the other medications they are taking before starting Clavotrol P Dry Syrup. Additionally, consult with your child's doctor before administering any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Clavotrol P Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in children who have recently received one. However, children taking antibiotics should avoid vaccination until they are recovered from the illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Clavotrol P Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Prolonged therapy often involves periodic monitoring of kidney and liver function tests by your child's doctor to assess their condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Clavotrol P Dry Syrup to my child?
No, giving a higher than prescribed dose of this medication can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences increased severity of symptoms, consult their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Clavotrol P Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue this medication without completing the prescribed course, even if you observe improvement. Symptoms might improve before the infection is fully cured. Therefore, continue administering the medicine as directed until the complete treatment period.
Can Clavotrol P Dry Syrup cause diarrhea in my child?
Yes, Clavotrol P Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic that combats harmful bacteria. In addition, this medication may affect the beneficial bacteria within your child's stomach and cause diarrhea. If your child experiences diarrhea, encourage them to drink plenty of fluids. If diarrhea persists or you notice signs of dehydration (e.g., decreased urination with dark-colored, strong-smelling urine), consult your doctor before administering any other medications.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most times, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. It's important to remember that using antibiotics unnecessarily can worsen the situation and lead to antibiotic resistance. Always consult with your child's doctor before administering any antibiotics.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Contact your child's doctor immediately if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal complications (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). Although rare, these side effects require prompt attention from a medical professional.
