How it works
Clavin Forte Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Clavin Forte Dry Syrup?
Most antibiotics do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause a negative reaction in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is generally advised to wait until your child recovers from the illness before giving them any other medications, including vaccines.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Clavin Forte Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
In cases of prolonged therapy, the doctor might monitor kidney and liver function tests periodically to assess your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Clavin Forte Dry Syrup to my child?
It is not advisable to exceed the recommended dosage for Clavin Forte Dry Syrup. Doing so could increase the risk of side effects and worsen the situation.
Can I stop giving Clavin Forte Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not stop giving this medication to your child unless you have completed the full course prescribed by the doctor. The symptoms may improve before complete cure is achieved. Continuing the treatment for the prescribed duration ensures optimal effectiveness.
Can the use of Clavin Forte Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Clavin Forte Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea as it is an antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria. Moreover, this medication might disrupt beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach and trigger diarrhea. In case of diarrhea, encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids and consult your doctor if the diarrhea persists or you notice signs of dehydration like dark colored urine with less frequent urination.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
It is not a rule that viral common colds automatically lead to bacterial infections. Bacterial infections don't always follow viral ones, and using antibiotics for viral illnesses can actually increase the risk of side effects. It's important to consult your doctor before considering antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
A yellow or green color in your child's nasal discharge does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection, but can be a typical symptom during a common cold. This change in mucus is often normal and expected, especially as the common cold typically lasts for 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
If your child experiences severe allergic reactions (breathing problems or skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections like diarrhea, or liver damage characterized by weakness, paleness, and vomiting, it's crucial to seek emergency medical care immediately. These symptoms are serious and require expert attention.
