Key Information

Short Description

Clavcare-W Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract.

Dosage Form

Oral Suspension

Introduction

Clavcare-W Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.

Directions for Use

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.

Safety Information

Side Effects

No common side effects listed

How it works

Clavcare-W Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Quick Tips

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Clavcare-W Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Clavcare-W Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Clavcare-W Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Clavcare-W Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Clavcare-W Dry Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty.

Frequently asked questions

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Clavcare-W Dry Syrup?

Clavcare-W Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It's crucial to inform your child's doctor about all other medications they are taking before starting Clavcare-W Dry Syrup. Consulting a doctor is always recommended before administering any medicine to your child.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Clavcare-W Dry Syrup?

Antibiotics usually don't interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children. However, vaccination should be postponed until the illness is completely resolved. After your child recovers from the illness, then you can administer the vaccine.

Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Clavcare-W Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?

Regular monitoring of kidney and liver function is important for long-term treatment. Your doctor will advise periodic blood tests to check these functions.

Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Clavcare-W Dry Syrup to my child?

No, exceeding the recommended dosage can increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences increased symptoms, please consult with their doctor for re-evaluation.

Can I stop giving Clavcare-W Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?

No, do not discontinue this medicine until the complete course is finished, even if you perceive improvement. Symptoms may improve before the infection is fully eradicated. Therefore, continue with the prescribed duration for optimal benefits.

Can Clavcare-W Dry Syrup cause diarrhea in my child?

Yes, Clavcare-W Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea. This is due to the antibiotic's effect on harmful bacteria and the potential disruption of beneficial bacteria in your child’s stomach.

Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?

Most cases do not involve secondary bacterial infections following a viral cold. However, it's crucial to consult a doctor before administering antibiotics for a viral infection as this can increase the risk of side effects.

The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?

Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not automatically signify a need for antibiotics. It is normal for mucus to thicken and change color during a common cold, lasting for 7-10 days. If you notice any other concerning symptoms like difficulty breathing or skin rash, it's important to seek immediate medical attention.

Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?

Call your child’s doctor immediately if they experience: severe allergic reactions (breathing problems or skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea) and liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While rare, these side effects require urgent medical attention.
