How it works
Clav First Forte Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Clav First Forte Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Clav First Forte Dry Syrup?
Clav First Forte Dry Syrup can sometimes interact with other medications or substances. It is important to inform your child's doctor about all other medications they are taking before starting Clav First Forte Dry Syrup. Consulting a healthcare professional for guidance is also recommended before administering any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Clav First Forte Dry Syrup?
While antibiotics usually do not interfere with vaccine ingredients, the timing of vaccinations is often influenced by the specific medical condition being treated. It's best to consult your child's doctor regarding potential vaccination schedule adjustments during antibiotic therapy. Once the illness is resolved, follow your doctor's recommendations for administering the vaccine.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Clav First Forte Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically, monitoring kidney and liver function tests may be recommended during prolonged antibiotic therapy to assess your child's overall health. This helps monitor the effectiveness of the medication and address potential side effects.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Clav First Forte Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a higher dosage of Clav First Forte Dry Syrup can increase the risk of adverse reactions. If your child experiences any worsened symptoms, consult your child's doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Clav First Forte Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Stopping medication prematurely before completing the full course of treatment can delay recovery. Continue administering Clav First Forte Dry Syrup until your child's doctor recommends completion.
Can the use of Clav First Forte Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Clav First Forte Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea as it can disrupt the balance of bacteria in the gut. This is a common side effect and usually resolves on its own. However, if the child experiences severe diarrhea (with signs like dehydration), consult your doctor for further guidance.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
While not all viral infections lead to secondary bacterial infections, it is essential to avoid self-treating with antibiotics. Antibiotics only work against bacteria and should be used under a doctor's guidance for bacterial infections.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose is generally not indicative of a bacterial infection. It's a common symptom during a cold, and often changes color from clear to yellow or green as the body fights off the virus.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
If your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), seek immediate medical attention. These are rare but severe side effects and require professional intervention.
