How it works
Cip-Zox Tablet is a combination of a muscle relaxant (Chlorzoxazone) and two pain relieving medicines (Diclofenac and Paracetamol). The muscle relaxant works on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm, thereby improving movement of muscles. The pain relieving medicines work by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
Quick Tips
You have been prescribed Cip-Zox Tablet to relieve pain due to muscle spasm. This medicine is most effective when taken along with proper rest and physical therapy. Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Cip-Zox Tablet as it may cause excessive drowsiness and increase the risk of liver damage. Older adults may have increased drowsiness, confusion, and higher risk of falling as a result of taking Cip-Zox Tablet. Frequently asked questions
What is Cip-Zox Tablet?
Cip-Zox Tablet is a combination medication that contains three active ingredients: Diclofenac, Paracetamol, and Chlorzoxazone. It is used to relieve muscle pain, with Chlorzoxazone working as a muscle relaxant by acting on the central nervous system, and Diclofenac and Paracetamol reducing the production of prostaglandins, which are chemical substances that cause pain and inflammation.
Is it safe to use Cip-Zox Tablet?
Cip-Zox Tablet is generally considered safe for most patients, but it may cause common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, diarrhea, loss of appetite, dry mouth, weakness, and sleepiness. In some cases, it may also cause uncommon or rare side effects. If you experience any persistent problems or concerns, it is essential to consult your doctor as soon as possible.
Can I stop taking Cip-Zox Tablet when my pain is relieved?
It is important to follow the specific instructions provided by your doctor regarding the duration of treatment with Cip-Zox Tablet. If you are using it for short-term pain relief, you may be able to discontinue it once your pain is relieved. However, if you are advised to take it for a specific period, it is crucial to complete the full course of treatment to ensure the best possible outcome.
Can the use of Cip-Zox Tablet cause nausea and vomiting?
Yes, Cip-Zox Tablet may cause nausea and vomiting in some patients. If you experience nausea while taking this medication, it is recommended to take it with milk, food, or antacids. Avoid consuming fatty or fried foods with this medication. If you experience vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids in small, frequent sips. If vomiting persists and you notice signs of dehydration, such as dark-colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination, consult your doctor. Do not take any other medication without consulting your doctor first.
Can the use of Cip-Zox Tablet cause dizziness?
Yes, Cip-Zox Tablet may cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady, or lightheaded) in some patients. If you experience dizziness, it is recommended to rest for a while and resume once you feel better. If your dizziness persists or worsens, consult your doctor for further guidance.
Can the use of Cip-Zox Tablet cause damage to kidneys?
Yes, the long-term use of Cip-Zox Tablet may cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protect them from damage. The use of painkillers, such as Cip-Zox Tablet, can lower the levels of prostaglandins in the body, leading to kidney damage on long-term use. Patients with underlying kidney disease should avoid using painkillers, including Cip-Zox Tablet, and consult their doctor for alternative treatment options.
Can I take a higher than the recommended dose of this medicine?
No, taking a higher than the recommended dose of Cip-Zox Tablet can increase the risk of side effects. If you are experiencing increased severity of pain or if the pain is not relieved by the recommended doses, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation and guidance on alternative treatment options.
What are the recommended storage conditions for Cip-Zox Tablet?
To ensure the safety and efficacy of Cip-Zox Tablet, it is essential to store it according to the instructions provided on the pack or label.
