Dry Syrup
Introduction
Cfx O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Directions for Use
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Cfx O Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
How it works
Cfx O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or become resistant or cause another infection. Do not give this medicine for conditions like common cold and flu, which are caused by viruses. Only give Cfx O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

Frequently asked questions
What if I give too much of Cfx O Dry Syrup by mistake?
Taking extra doses of Cfx O Dry Syrup is unlikely to cause harm. However, it's crucial to monitor your child closely as overdosing can lead to unwanted side effects and potentially worsen their condition. If you believe your child has ingested too much of the medication, contact a doctor immediately.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Cfx O Dry Syrup?
Serious potential side effects include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy symptoms, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. If your child experiences these complications, consult a doctor immediately for medical attention.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Cfx O Dry Syrup?
Cfx O Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It is crucial to inform your child's doctor about all the medications they are currently taking before starting Cfx O Dry Syrup. Additionally, always consult your doctor before giving any medication to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cfx O Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received a vaccine. However, it is recommended that your child avoid vaccination until they recover from the illness. Once your child feels better, the doctor can recommend appropriate vaccination.
Can Cfx O Dry Syrup impact my child’s digestion?
Children often experience digestive upset when taking antibiotics. The medication may eliminate good bacteria alongside harmful bacteria in the stomach, potentially increasing the risk of other infections. If your child experiences diarrhea while on Cfx O Dry Syrup, do not stop the medication without consulting a doctor for further guidance and potential dose adjustments.
Can Cfx O Dry Syrup lead to bacterial resistance in my child?
Yes, antibiotic-resistant bacteria can develop due to inconsistent dosing practices, unnecessary repeated use of Cfx O Dry Syrup, or misuse. Resistant bacteria are no longer susceptible to the effects of antibiotics and may lead to reinfection.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Cfx O Dry Syrup to my child?
Inform your child's doctor if they have any underlying health conditions such as heart disease, blood vessel disorders, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (sun sensitivity), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. These conditions might be aggravated by Cfx O Dry Syrup and could lead to complications.
