How it works

Cefsung CV Dry Syrup is a potent antibiotic comprising two active medicines: Cefixime and Clavulanic acid. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing and prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment. The second ingredient, clavulanic acid, is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It reduces resistance and enhances the activity of cefixime against bacteria.

Quick Tips

Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if your child experiences a bitter taste Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect Never give Cefsung CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor Do not give Cefsung CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses Never save medicine for future illnesses

Frequently asked questions

What if I give too much of Cefsung CV Dry Syrup by mistake? What should I do?

If you think you have given too much of Cefsung CV Dry Syrup to your child, contact a healthcare professional immediately. Although an extra dose of Cefsung CV Dry Syrup does not usually cause any harm, overdoses can increase the risk of unwanted side effects and may even worsen your child's condition.

Are there any possible serious side effects of Cefsung CV Dry Syrup?

Possible serious side effects of this medicine include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. If you notice any of these side effects, seek immediate medical attention.

Can I give other medicines along with Cefsung CV Dry Syrup at the same time?

It is crucial to consult a healthcare professional before giving your child Cefsung CV Dry Syrup alongside any other medications. Certain drugs can interact, and they might also interfere with how well the medicine works.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cefsung CV Dry Syrup?

In most cases, antibiotics don't affect the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction. However, it's important to wait for your child to fully recover from their illness before administering any vaccine. Once your child is feeling better, you can discuss vaccination with their healthcare professional.

My child has yellow-green mucus coming out of their nose. Is this a sign of a bacterial infection?

The color of mucus does not indicate the type of infection your child is experiencing. So, yellow or green mucus in the nose doesn't necessarily mean antibiotics are needed. During the common cold, it's normal for symptoms to last 7-10 days and for the mucus to change color and consistency.

My child has a sore throat and ear infection. Can I give antibiotics?

No, antibiotics are not required for viral infections such as the sore throat or ear infection. These symptoms are usually caused by a virus and antibiotic medication is ineffective. Consult your doctor before administering any medication to your child.
