Dosage Form

Dry Syrup

Introduction

Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup is a potent antibiotic made up of two active medicines. It is given to children to treat a wide range of severe bacterial infections targeting the ear, sinus, throat, lungs, skin, and urinary tract.

Directions for Use

Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup must be given only as prescribed by a doctor and never shared with anyone else, even if they show similar symptoms.

Safety Information

Side Effects

May cause a bitter taste Diarrhea may develop as a side effect Itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty may occur in rare cases

How it works

Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup is a potent antibiotic comprising two active medicines: Cefixime and Clavulanic acid. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing and prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment. The second ingredient, clavulanic acid, is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It reduces resistance and enhances the activity of cefixime against bacteria.

Quick Tips

Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help alleviate a bitter taste Never give Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses

Frequently asked questions

What if I give too much of Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup by mistake?

If you believe you have given your child more than the recommended dose of Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup, contact a healthcare professional immediately. While an overdose may not always cause harm, it can increase the risk of side effects and potentially worsen their condition.

Are there any possible serious side effects of Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup?

Serious side effects of this medicine include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergic reactions, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. If you experience any of these side effects, consult your child's doctor immediately.

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup?

Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup may interact with certain medications or substances. Before starting this medication, inform your healthcare provider of any other medications your child is taking. Always consult with a healthcare professional before administering any medicine to your child.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cefixiv CV Dry Syrup?

Generally, antibiotics do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children after receiving them. However, it is best to avoid administering any medicine to your child until they are fully recovered from their illness. Once they have fully recovered, the vaccine can be administered.

The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?

Mucus color alone does not indicate the type of infection present. Yellow or green mucus in the nose doesn't necessarily imply the need for antibiotics. During the common cold, symptoms typically last 7-10 days and mucus may change its color and consistency.

My child is having a sore throat and ear infection. Can I give antibiotics?

No. Most sore throats and ear infections are caused by viruses, not bacteria. Antibiotics are ineffective against viral infections. If your child experiences a sore throat, runny nose, barking cough, pain, and discharge from the ears, they likely have a virus. Consult with your healthcare provider for guidance.
