Dry Syrup
Introduction
Cefiez O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Directions for Use
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Cefiez O Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine.
How it works
Cefiez O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Do not give this medicine for conditions like common cold and flu, which are caused by viruses. Only give Cefiez O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

Frequently asked questions
What if I give too much of Cefiez O Dry Syrup by mistake?
Giving more than the recommended dose of Cefiez O Dry Syrup is unlikely to cause immediate harm. However, it's important to monitor your child closely and contact a doctor immediately if you believe an overdose may have occurred. This ensures timely intervention for potential side effects or worsening of your child's condition.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Cefiez O Dry Syrup?
Serious side effects associated with this medication include persistent vomiting, kidney problems, allergic reactions, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. It is crucial to consult a healthcare professional if you encounter these or any other concerning symptoms during your child's treatment.
Can I give other medicines at the same time as Cefiez O Dry Syrup?
Cefiez O Dry Syrup may interact with some other medications. It is vital to inform your child's doctor about any other medicine or supplement they are taking before starting this medication, to avoid potential interactions. Consulting with a healthcare professional is always recommended for the safe and effective use of any medication.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cefiez O Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically do not interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received them. However, it's best to avoid vaccination until your child fully recovers from the illness they are being treated for. Once they start recovering, a doctor can determine if the vaccine is safe.
Can Cefiez O Dry Syrup impact my child’s digestion?
Many children experience digestive upset while taking antibiotics because they disrupt the balance of good and bad bacteria in their gut. This disruption can increase the risk of other infections. If your child develops diarrhea, do not stop the medication course without consulting a doctor. They will advise you on next steps.
Can Cefiez O Dry Syrup lead to bacterial resistance?
Yes, antibiotic misuse and irregular dosing can contribute to bacterial resistance, rendering the antibiotics less effective in fighting infections. It's crucial to use these medications only when prescribed and as directed by a healthcare professional. This will help prevent resistance.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Cefiez O Dry Syrup to my child?
Always inform your child's doctor if your child has any of these conditions: heart disease, genetic disorders affecting blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (allergic reactions from sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis. This information is important because Cefiez O Dry Syrup may have a negative impact on these pre-existing conditions.
