Key Information
Short Description
Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children, including ear, eye, nose, throat, lung, skin, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract infections, as well as uncomplicated typhoid fever.
Dosage Form
Dry Syrup
Introduction
Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup is best given an hour before or two hours after meals as that ensures better absorption. In case your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with meals. The dose and duration depend upon the type and severity of the infection, so stick to the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again but do not double dose if it's the time for the next dose. Do not give this medicine to your child in case of cold and flu symptoms as they are usually caused by viruses and antibiotics don’t treat viral infections. Doctors prescribe this medicine for cough and cold only when they detect any underlying secondary bacterial infection.
Directions for Use
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Dissolve the powder in sterile water. Shake well and use. Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How it works
Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or become resistant or cause another infection. Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses.

Frequently asked questions
What if I give too much of Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup by mistake?
Giving an extra dose of Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup is unlikely to cause harm, however, if you believe your child may have taken too much, contact a doctor immediately. Overdose can lead to unwanted side effects and potentially worsen their condition.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup?
Some potential serious side effects include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergic reactions, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child's doctor for help with these situations.
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup?
Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup may interact with other medicines or substances. Before starting Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup, discuss your child's medications with their doctor. Always seek medical advice before administering any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics usually don't interfere with vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, ensure your child's doctor confirms their condition before any vaccination is given after a bout of illness. Once your child shows improvement, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
The doctor may recommend periodic kidney and liver function tests to monitor your child's condition during long-term treatment.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not automatically mean antibiotics are needed. During a common cold, mucus may thicken and change from clear to yellow or green. These symptoms typically last for 7 to 10 days.
Does a common cold caused by viruses always result in a secondary bacterial infection? When to start an antibiotic to prevent infection?
In most cases, bacterial infections don't follow viral infections. Antibiotics are not needed for viral illnesses as using them may have side effects without benefitting your child's health. Always consult with your child's doctor before starting antibiotics.
Can Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup impact my child’s digestive system?
Children have a sensitive stomach and may experience stomach upset while taking antibiotics. It can also impact the good bacteria in their gut, potentially leading to other infections. If your child has diarrhea on Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup, don't stop the medication without contacting their doctor first. The doctor might adjust the dosage.
Can Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup lead to bacterial resistance in my child?
Yes, improper treatment, overuse, and misuse of Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup can contribute to bacterial resistance. Resistant bacteria are no longer affected by the antibiotics and may lead to reinfection.
How long should I take Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup?
Cefesha 50mg Dry Syrup is generally prescribed for 7-14 days. You should continue the medication for its full duration as advised by your doctor.
