How it works

Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup is a potent antibiotic comprising two active medicines: Cefixime and Clavulanic acid. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing and prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment. The second ingredient, clavulanic acid, is a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It reduces resistance and enhances the activity of cefixime against bacteria.

Quick Tips

Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help if your child experiences a bitter taste Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect Never give Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor Do not give Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses Never save medicine for future illnesses Stop Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty

Frequently asked questions

What if I give too much of Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup by mistake?

If you think you have given too much of Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup to your child, immediately contact a doctor. While an extra dose of Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup does not usually cause any harm, overdoses may increase the risk of unwanted side effects and could worsen your child's condition.

Are there any possible serious side effects of Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup?

Some serious side effects of this medicine include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. It is important to seek medical help immediately if you observe these symptoms in your child.

Can other medicines be given at the same time as Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup?

Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. It is important to tell your child's doctor about all other medications they are taking before starting this medication. Also, check with your child's doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Cefeomed CV Dry Syrup?

Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in children who have just received one. However, it is advisable to hold off on vaccinations until your child has recovered from any illness. Once they are feeling better, you can schedule the vaccine.

The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?

The color of mucus does not indicate the type of infection your child has, so yellow or green mucus in the nose does not automatically mean antibiotics are needed. During a typical cold, symptoms can last for 7 to 10 days and the mucus can change texture and colour during that period.

My child is having a sore throat and ear infection. Can I give antibiotics?

No. More than 80% of sore throats and ear infections are caused by viruses, and antibiotics are not used for viral infections. If your child has a sore throat, runny nose, a barky cough, pain, or discharge from the ear, it is most likely due to a virus. Consult your child's doctor for guidance.
