How it works
CD Eye Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Chloramphenicol and Hydrocortisone. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Hydrocortisone is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause redness, swelling and itching after an allergy or infection.
Quick Tips
Your doctor has prescribed CD Eye Ointment to cure your eye infection and improve your symptoms. Use it twice a day (in the morning and the evening). If your symptoms are particularly severe, your doctor may suggest you use them up to four times a day. Wash your hands first before applying CD Eye Ointment. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after putting the medication. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up. Along with using CD Eye Ointment, give warm compress to your eyes to get relief from itching and burning sensation. Take care to avoid spreading the infection from one eye to the other and to other members of your family.
