Introduction
Canditral 200 Capsule should be taken in the dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. It should be swallowed whole and can be taken with food. To get the most benefit, take this medicine at evenly spaced times and continue using it until your prescription is finished, even if your symptoms disappear after a few days. If you stop the treatment too early, the infection may return and if you miss doses you can increase your risk of infections that are resistant to further treatment. Tell your doctor if the infection does not get better or if it gets worse. The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea, dizziness, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, and dyspepsia. You could ask your doctor about ways of preventing or reducing these effects. Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction like severe skin rash, tingling, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Do not take it if you are pregnant or could become pregnant unless your doctor has told you to. Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have a history of heart failure, a weak immune system (including HIV/AIDS), kidney problems, or liver problems such as yellow skin (jaundice). This medicine may not be suitable for you. If your course of treatment is for more than a month, your doctor may want to check your liver by testing your blood.

Frequently asked questions
What is Canditral 200 Capsule used for?
Canditral 200 Capsule is used to treat various types of fungal infections, including ringworm, athlete's foot, fungal infections of the feet, groin, and buttocks, as well as persistent infections of the fingernails and toenails, candida (yeast) infections of the vagina, mouth, or throat, and infections caused by Histoplasma, aspergillus, and Blastomyces.
For how long do I need to take Canditral 200 Capsule?
The duration of treatment with Canditral 200 Capsule depends on the type and site of infection, as well as your response to the treatment. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and length of treatment for your specific condition.
I am taking Canditral 200 Capsule for nail infection but there does not seem to be any improvement. Can I stop taking it?
No, it is essential to complete the entire course of Canditral 200 Capsule as directed by your doctor, even if you do not see immediate results. Fungal infections can take time to clear up, and stopping treatment prematurely may not fully eliminate the infection.
Why has my doctor asked me to get blood tests done?
Your doctor may have ordered blood tests to monitor your liver function, as Canditral 200 Capsule can cause serious liver damage. If you experience any symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, dark urine, or abdominal pain while taking the medication, inform your doctor immediately.
Can I take antacid and Canditral 200 Capsule together?
It is recommended to take antacids or other stomach acid-reducing medications at least 2 hours after taking Canditral 200 Capsule. If you are taking antacids that stop the production of stomach acid, take Canditral 200 Capsule with a drink of cola.
What is drug resistance? Is it possible to develop resistance to Canditral 200 Capsule?
Drug resistance occurs when fungi adapt to the medication and become less responsive to its effects. Resistance to Canditral 200 Capsule has been reported with certain candida species. To avoid developing resistance, it is crucial to complete the full course of treatment as directed by your doctor.
I have been on alprazolam for quite some time. Is it okay if I start Canditral 200 Capsule now?
Yes, you can take both Alprazolam and Canditral 200 Capsule together, but be aware of potential side effects such as lightheadedness or drowsiness. If you experience any side effects after taking Canditral 200 Capsule, consult your doctor, who may need to adjust the dose of Alprazolam.
My doctor prescribed Canditral 200 Capsule to me but not to my friend who had a similar fungal infection because she was on dofetilide. Why is it so?
Your doctor did not prescribe Canditral 200 Capsule to your friend because it can interact with dofetilide, potentially causing abnormal heart rhythms. It is essential to inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, to ensure safe and effective treatment.
