Introduction
Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup?

It's important to inform your child's doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup, and get their advice on the best way to administer these medications safely.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics typically don't interfere with the components of vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
During prolonged therapy, your child's doctor may periodically monitor kidney and liver function tests to track their condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a dosage higher than the recommended amount for Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup can increase the risks of side effects. If your child experiences increased severity of symptoms, contact your doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?

Can the use of Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Boostim BD 200 mg/28.5 mg Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea. This is due to its antibiotic action which kills harmful bacteria. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water or other fluids if they experience diarrhea. Consult your doctor if diarrhea persists and you notice signs of dehydration such as less frequent urination with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine. Do not administer any other medications to your child without consulting a physician.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
In most cases, bacterial infections don't follow viral infections. Using antibiotics in viral infections can increase the risk of side effects. Therefore, only consult with your child's doctor before administering antibiotics.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not automatically indicate a need for antibiotics. During a common cold, it's normal for mucus to thicken and change color from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms typically last 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical care if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), and liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While rare, these side effects are critical and require expert intervention.
