Introduction

Stevia is a natural alternative sweetener extracted from the leaves of Stevia Rebaudiana, which has been used for centuries by the Guarani people in South America and is currently accepted worldwide. It contains two main sweet compounds, Stevioside and Rebaudioside, which produce a lingering sweet taste. Stevia has a low glycemic index, aids activation of the pancreas' beta cells, and is poorly absorbed in the body, making it a suitable option for weight management and blood sugar control.

Infusion to be made: Add ½-1 tsp powder to 60ml liquid materials (to be sweetened), boil for few minutes and then filter it.

Stevia contains Steviol Glycosides, which are poorly absorbed in the body and pass through the upper gastrointestinal tract fully intact. Once steviol glycosides reach the colon, it is converted into steviol. The liver then metabolizes steviol before being excreted in the urine.
