Bivir Tablet is an antiviral medication that prevents the multiplication of virus in human cells. It stops the virus from producing new viruses and clears up your infection. It should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Dissolve it in a glass of water before taking it. It may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

No, you can still transmit the infection to others while being treated with Bivir Tablet. Herpes infections are contagious; avoid contact between infected areas and other people. Avoid touching your eyes after coming into contact with an infected area. Practice frequent handwashing to prevent transmission. Use condoms during sex if you have genital sores or blisters. Abstinence from sexual activity is advised until healed.
Serious side effects are rare, but seek medical attention immediately if you experience any. These rare side effects include hives, blistering or peeling rash, yellowing of skin or eyes, unusual bruising or bleeding, loss of consciousness, fits (seizures), difficulty breathing, hallucinations, and swelling of the face, tongue, lips, or throat.
Older adults (over age 65 years) may experience more side effects when taking Bivir Tablet. This is because their kidneys process the medication less efficiently than younger individuals' kidneys. Elderly patients should drink plenty of water while taking Bivir Tablet, and their kidney function should be monitored. A lower dose of the medicine might be considered, and regular neurological checks are essential for these patients.
Overdosing on Bivir Tablet, repeated or accidental ingestion over several days can lead to nausea, vomiting, confusion and headaches. Consult your doctor immediately in case of an overdose.
Patients with advanced HIV disease or those with a compromised immune system have reported resistance to Bivir Tablet. If the medication is not responding, drug resistance should be evaluated.
Hair loss is an uncommon side effect of Bivir Tablet. It stops when the medication is discontinued.
