Biocetamol Syrup is a widely prescribed medicine that helps to ease pain and bring down high body temperature (fever). In children, it treats conditions like headache, toothache, body ache, fever, and common cold.
Give Biocetamol Syrup to your child with food or milk to prevent an upset stomach. Your child should not take more than four doses of this medicine in 24 hours, so wait up to 6 hours between doses. Never give any other medicine formulation containing paracetamol along with this medicine as that may lead to serious side effects. Inform the doctor if your child has liver disease as the dose may need to be adjusted. If Biocetamol Syrup does not seem to be helping your child, contact your doctor for advice. Do not give extra doses.
Biocetamol Syrup possesses analgesic (pain-reliever) and antipyretic (lowers body temperature) properties. It provides relief by blocking certain chemical messengers and pathways in the brain that send signals about pain and fever.

Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding the correct dosage and frequency for your child. This will vary based on the strength of the medicine and your child's age. Check the label or leaflet inside the packaging for specific directions before use. The commonly recommended dose range is 10-15 mg/kg per dose every 4 to 6 hours.
Biocetamol Syrup usually starts working within 30 to 60 minutes after administration and reaches its peak effect within 3 to 4 hours. Your child may begin to feel better with a few doses. If the pain or fever persists, consult your child's doctor immediately.
You can give this medicine if your child has a temperature of 38.3°C (101°F) or higher. However, it is best to consult your child's doctor before administering the medication.
If the fever doesn't come down with the initial doses, there may be an underlying infection (viral or bacterial). Consulting your child's doctor for specific treatment is crucial.
Taking more than four doses of Biocetamol Syrup in a 24-hour period. A gap of at least 4 to 6 hours should be maintained between each dose. Do not take this medication for more than 3 days without consulting your doctor first, as exceeding the recommended dosage can lead to liver and kidney toxicity. Seek immediate medical attention if you believe your child may have overdosed on this medicine even if they seem well, as delayed liver damage can occur.
Unless specifically instructed by your doctor, your child should maintain their normal diet while continuing the medication. This is to ensure adequate nutrition and prevent potential drug toxicity in children.
Keep this medicine at room temperature in a dry place, away from children's reach.
This medication may require careful consideration and consultation with a doctor when used by children with malnutrition, G6PD deficiency, liver disease, or existing medicinal allergies. It is important to provide your child's doctor with their complete medical history for an informed decision regarding the treatment plan.
Biocetamol Syrup typically does not interfere with or negatively react with the ingredients in vaccines. However, it is best to allow your child's body to recover from any illness before administering the vaccine. Once they feel better, the vaccine can be administered without any problems.
