Bilocid 150 Tablet works by targeting the liver and concentrating in bile. This results in a reduction of cholesterol production and secretion from the liver, thereby decreasing the cholesterol levels found in bile. Additionally, it acts by preventing the intestines from absorbing bile salts and cholesterol. As a result, this mechanism leads to the gradual dissolving of cholesterol from gallstones, reducing their size, and eventually dissolving them. Furthermore, Bilocid 150 Tablet increases the flow of bile through the liver, protecting liver cells from damage.
While using Bilocid 150 Tablet is not directly associated with significant weight gain, it is possible. This risk may be particularly heightened in individuals experiencing liver disease due to a blockage of bile flow within the liver. In this condition, bile can't flow from the liver to the small intestine. Weight gain chances vary based on the individual and their underlying health conditions. It is crucial to consult your doctor if you notice any unexpected weight changes.
While taking Bilocid 150 Tablet, it's advisable to avoid antacids without consulting your doctor as they can reduce the effectiveness of this medication. Additionally, consult with your healthcare professional about potential interactions with medications like cholestyramine or colestipol. They may need specific dosage adjustments.
