Betasalic S Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone and Salicylic Acid. Betamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin.
Apply it once a day. For best effect, leave it on during the day if you have applied it in the morning or overnight if you have used it in the evening. Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily or as advised by your doctor. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor. If you are using a moisturizer along with this preparation, apply the moisturizer first. Then wait 10-15 minutes before applying Betasalic S Ointment. After you have applied Betasalic S Ointment, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area). Do not apply this medicine to your face unless your doctor has asked you to. Do not apply it on open wounds and cuts. Your skin may become more sensitive to sunlight than normal while you are using Betasalic S Ointment. Try to avoid sitting out in the sun and do not use sunbeds. Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
