Directions for Use
This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.
How it works
Betasalic Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone and Salicylic Acid which treat eczema and psoriasis. Betamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Betamethasone into the skin.
Quick Tips
Betasalic Ointment is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort associated with psoriasis and eczema. It is advisable to apply it once a day. For best effect, leave it on during the day if you have applied it in the morning or overnight if you have used it in the evening. Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily or as advised by your doctor. Don't cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects. If you are using a moisturizer along with this preparation, apply the moisturizer first. Then wait 10-15 minutes before applying Betasalic Ointment. After you have applied Betasalic Ointment, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area). Do not apply this medicine to your face unless your doctor has asked you to. If you have been told to use it on your face, be careful not to get any preparation near your eyes, and do not use it for longer periods of time than you have been advised. Do not apply it on open wounds and cuts. Your skin may become more sensitive to sunlight than normal while you are using Betasalic Ointment. Try to avoid sitting out in the sun and do not use sunbeds. Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
