Giving Betaryl 2mg Syrup just before the procedure helps block the effect of this chemical on vomiting centers of the brain and prevents vomiting.

Frequently asked questions
What is Betaryl 2mg Syrup used for?
Betaryl 2mg Syrup is typically given to prevent vomiting prior to major surgeries or chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions. In such instances, a healthcare professional may recommend this syrup to your child to help reduce the risk of post-procedure nausea. Additionally, Betaryl 2mg Syrup may also be used in treating children experiencing vomiting caused by stomach diseases. If your child needs this treatment, consult your child's doctor for an appropriate dosage.
What if my child takes too much Betaryl 2mg Syrup?
It is unlikely to cause harm if you accidentally give your child a higher dose of Betaryl 2mg Syrup. However, it's crucial to contact your child's healthcare professional immediately in such a situation. Excessive intake of Betaryl 2mg Syrup can lead to serious side effects like excessive drowsiness, agitation, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, flushing, dilated pupils, sweating, involuntary muscle jerks, uncontrolled eye movements, overactive reflexes, and seizures. These symptoms together are known as serotonin syndrome. If you observe any of these symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.
How should Betaryl 2mg Syrup be stored?
Betaryl 2mg Syrup should be stored at room temperature in a dry place away from direct heat and sunlight. It's also essential to keep all medications out of reach and sight of children to prevent accidental ingestion.
What all medicines should my child avoid while taking Betaryl 2mg Syrup?
Avoid giving Betaryl 2mg Syrup along with medicines used to treat depression or migraine. It is also advised not to give Betaryl 2mg Syrup with antidepressant medications, apomorphine, anti-migraine medications, painkillers, heart medications, and antibiotics like linezolid. Consult your child's healthcare professional for a complete list of potential interactions before administering any medication.
In what conditions do I need to call my child’s doctor right away?
Call your child's doctor immediately if they develop symptoms of serotonin syndrome, including irregular heartbeat, green-colored vomiting, difficulty passing gas, pale skin and eyes, dark urine, restlessness, and insomnia.
My child is having a migraine and is on medication. Can I give Betaryl 2mg Syrup along with it?
Do not combine Betaryl 2mg Syrup with such medicines because combining it with depression or migraine medications can lead to serotonin syndrome. Consult your child's doctor before administering any medicine to them.
