How it works
Betapax Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and Propranolol. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in brain. Propranolol is a beta blocker which blocks the action of certain chemical messengers on the heart and blood vessels. This reduces heart rate, blood pressure and strain on the heart.

Betapax Tablet is used for the treatment of anxiety. It can take a week or two after starting this treatment before the effect begins to build up It can take 4-6 weeks before you feel the full benefit. Do not stop taking Betapax Tablet unless your doctor tells you to do so. Do not stop taking Betapax Tablet suddenly as it may cause withdrawal symptoms. Try to keep your regular appointments with your doctor. Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Betapax Tablet is to be taken empty stomach. Take caution while taking medicine if you are suffering from liver disease. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
