Astemizole Azelastine Buclizine Cetirizine
Betahist 20mg Tablet is a histamine analog. It works by improving the blood flow in the inner ear which reduces the pressure of excess fluid there. Excess fluid can send signals to the brain causing nausea, dizziness or spinning sensations (symptoms of Ménière's disease). Betahist 20mg Tablet additionally dampens down the nerve signals sent from the inner ear to the brain relieving the symptoms of Ménière's disease.
You have been prescribed Betahist 20mg Tablet to relieve vertigo (dizziness), hearing problems, and tinnitus (noise in the ear) associated with Ménière's disease. It can only decrease the number and severity of attacks but may not completely stop them. Taking it with food can help reduce stomach problems. Take it at the same time each day to maintain a steady amount of the medicine in your body. Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcer, asthma, or low blood pressure. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor first.
Meniere's disease is a disorder affecting the balance and hearing organs in the inner ear. It causes symptoms like vertigo (feeling of dizziness or spinning), fluctuating hearing, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and pressure in the ears. Additionally, some individuals may experience nausea and vomiting alongside dizziness. The treatment for Meniere's disease depends on individual factors and requires a consultation with a healthcare professional to determine the best course of action.
Betahist 20mg Tablet may show effectiveness when used as prescribed by your doctor, including adhering to recommended dosage and duration. It is crucial not to stop taking the medication abruptly even if you experience a decline in symptoms. If stopped prematurely, the previously relieved symptoms might recur or worsen.
Triggers for Meniere's disease may include: stress and fatigue, emotional distress, additional illnesses, changes in environmental pressure. Certain foods like dairy products, caffeine, alcohol, and high-sodium foods might also trigger symptoms in some individuals. A low-salt diet (2 grams/day) can help control vertigo in Meniere's disease.
If you forget a dose of Betahist 20mg Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the following dose at the scheduled time. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one; this may increase the risk of adverse effects.
Stress and mental health can contribute to triggering or worsening existing symptoms of vertigo. However, it's important to understand that stress itself doesn't directly cause vertigo but can exacerbate pre-existing issues.
Vertigo may be caused by sudden blood pressure drops or dehydration. Many individuals experience lightheadedness when transitioning from a seated or lying position to standing quickly. Other potential causes include motion sickness, certain medications, and problems with the inner ear (Meniere's disease, acoustic neuroma). It is important to note that vertigo can sometimes be a symptom of other underlying medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis or head trauma.
The duration of treatment with Betahist 20mg Tablet varies among individuals. Some might experience rapid improvements, while others may need a longer period for results. It's essential to take the medication regularly and remain patient as you await progress. Consulting your doctor is recommended if you have any concerns about its use.
Betahist 20mg Tablet may cause mild gastrointestinal issues like nausea, stomach pain, abdominal distension (swollen abdomen), and bloating. Taking Betahist 20mg Tablet with food can lessen the likelihood of experiencing these adverse effects. However, its absorption could potentially decrease when taken with food.
Betahist 20mg Tablet is effective if used as prescribed by your doctor in the recommended dosage and duration. Do not stop taking it unless instructed to do so, even if you see improvement. If stopped prematurely, symptoms may return or worsen.
