Frequently asked questions
What is Bestoplex 1500mcg Injection?
Bestoplex 1500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, which plays a critical role in red blood cell production and maintaining a healthy nervous system. Vitamin B12 also assists in energy release from food and helps with utilizing vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why am I unable to get sufficient vitamin B12 through my diet?
Vitamin B12 is naturally found in animal-based products such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy. However, people who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet may not readily obtain vitamin B12 from plants. Therefore, deficiency of vitamin B12 commonly occurs in vegetarians or vegans.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
A vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to tiredness and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (larger than normal red blood cells). It may also cause nerve problems such as tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms include difficulty balancing, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and sores in the mouth or tongue.
Is Bestoplex 1500mcg Injection safe?
Generally, Bestoplex 1500mcg Injection is well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash may occur. Discontinue use immediately if a rash appears.
How should Bestoplex 1500mcg Injection be administered?
Bestoplex 1500mcg Injection can be given intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The typical dose is 0.5 mg per ampoule, and it's recommended to take the injection 3 times per week. After two months of treatment, the dosage shifts to once every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Bestoplex 1500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting at the same location repeatedly. If experiencing intense pain during injection or if the blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-insert it at a different site.
