Tablet
Bempesta Tablet is used to lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. Cholesterol is a fatty substance that builds up in your blood vessels and causes narrowing, possibly leading to a heart attack or stroke.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Bempesta Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
No common side effects listed.
It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Bempesta Tablet. Please consult your doctor.
Bempesta Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Bempesta Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.
Bempesta Tablet works by blocking an enzyme (enzyme adenosine triphosphate-citrate lyase) that is required to make “bad” cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein) in the liver, which results in lower levels of 'bad' cholesterol.
Take Bempesta Tablet after a meal or with a snack to avoid gastrointestinal problems. Inform your doctor if you experience fatigue, muscle weakness, or muscle or joint pain. Your doctor may check your liver function before starting the treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform them if you notice signs of liver problems such as stomach pain, unusually dark urine, yellowing skin, or eyes. Lifestyle changes like a low-fat and salt diet, exercise, not smoking, and cutting down on the amount of alcohol you normally drink may help this medication work better.
In one clinical study, Bempesta Tablet showed a 17-28% reduction in cholesterol levels after 12 weeks of treatment.
Fatigue and tiredness are possible side effects. If you experience fatigue along with chest pain or rapid heartbeat, contact your doctor immediately as these could be signs of a medical emergency.
Bempesta Tablet can potentially affect the liver, although rarely leading to liver damage. In some individuals, this medication may increase liver enzyme levels that typically improve with continued treatment or after discontinuing therapy.
Your doctor will likely not prescribe Bempesta Tablet if you have a history of tendon rupture. This is because tendon rupture is a potential side effect of this medication. Tendon rupture is damage to the tendons, which are tissues connecting muscles to bones. Symptoms can include pain, swelling, tears, and inflammation of tendons including the arm, shoulder, and back of the ankle. You also have a higher risk of tendon rupture if you are 60 years or older, or if you have kidney failure.
One tablet of Bempesta Tablet is to be taken once daily with or without food for as long as prescribed by the doctor. It's important to always follow your doctor's instructions when taking this medication.
LDL, or low-density lipoprotein, is referred to as 'bad' cholesterol because it can contribute to the buildup of plaque in your arteries. This plaque build-up can restrict blood flow and increase the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
HDL, or high-density lipoprotein, is considered 'good' cholesterol because it helps remove excess cholesterol from your bloodstream. This can help lower your risk of heart disease.
You can schedule a lipid profile test with an accredited laboratory to monitor your total cholesterol, LDL levels, HDL levels, triglycerides, and the ratio between cholesterol and HDL. You might need to fast for 10-12 hours before giving your blood sample for this test.
The normal range for total cholesterol levels is between 125 and 200 mg/dL. LDL levels should be less than 100 mg/dL, and HDL levels should be 40 mg/dL or higher.
High cholesterol levels can cause plaque to build up in your arteries, which can increase the risk of a heart attack or stroke. It's important to keep your cholesterol levels under control through lifestyle changes and medication.
Alongside taking Bempesta Tablet, adopt a healthy lifestyle including: A low-fat diet, regular exercise, weight management, and limiting alcohol consumption. These habits can further reduce your cholesterol levels.
