Frequently asked questions
What is Balmeco 2500mcg Injection?
Balmeco 2500mcg Injection contains Vitamin B12, an essential nutrient needed by the body for red blood cell production and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It's also involved in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why might I have difficulty getting sufficient Vitamin B12 from my diet?
While some people get Vitamin B12 from their diet through sources such as meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products, those who are vegetarian or vegan may not consume this source of vitamin naturally. Therefore, deficiency in vitamin B12 is more often seen in vegetarians or vegans.
What happens if I develop a Vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become abnormally large). It may also lead to nerve problems like numbness or tingling in the hands and feet. Other symptoms might include difficulties with balance, depression, confusion, memory problems, and mouth or tongue soreness.
Is Balmeco 2500mcg Injection safe?
Balmeco 2500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects like nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or a rash have been reported. If a rash develops, discontinue use of the medication immediately.
How should Balmeco 2500mcg Injection be administered?
Balmeco 2500mcg Injection can be given either intravenously (directly into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle). The usual dose is one ampoule containing 0.5 mg of Balmeco 2500mcg Injection, and it's administered three times per week. After two months, the dose becomes once every one to three months as part of ongoing maintenance therapy.
What precautions should be taken when administering Balmeco 2500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting Balmeco 2500mcg Injection at the same site every time. If you experience intense pain while injecting, or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-inject at a different location.
