Dosage Form
Dry Syrup
Introduction
Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that treats bacterial infections that may affect your child's eyes, ears, nose, throat, lungs, skin, bone and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and urinary tract. It can also be used in treating typhoid fever in children and adolescents.
Directions for Use
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
How it works
Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup contains two antibiotics. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) while ofloxacin directly interacts with the genetic material of bacteria. As a consequence, the infection-causing bacteria stop growing further and the spread of the infection is successfully arrested.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions. Only give Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup to your child for their current infection. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Stop this medicine and immediately report to your child's doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.

Frequently asked questions
What if I give too much of Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup by mistake? What should I do?
Taking an extra dose of Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup is unlikely to cause serious harm. However, it's important to contact a doctor immediately as overdoses can lead to unwanted side effects or worsen your child’s condition.
Are there any possible serious side effects of Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup?
Serious side effects may include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergic reactions (such as skin rash), diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences these or any other concerning symptoms.
Can I take other medicines at the same time as Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup?
Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup can interact with other medications. Tell your child's doctor about all other medicines they are taking before starting Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup and get further clarification on proper dosage.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with vaccinations. However, children on antibiotics should wait until they recover from the illness before being vaccinated. After recovering, the doctor can advise on when to administer the vaccine.
Can Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup affect my child’s digestion?
Children's digestive systems are particularly sensitive and may experience stomach upset while taking antibiotics. These medications often disrupt the balance of good bacteria in the gut, increasing the risk of other infections. If your child develops diarrhea during treatment with Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup, don’t stop the medication course without consulting their doctor. Instead, call for further guidance and potential dose adjustments.
Can Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup lead to bacterial resistance in my child?
Yes, irregular use or misuse of Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup can contribute to bacterial resistance. Overusing the medication, not adhering to prescribed dosage, and ignoring treatment gaps may allow bacteria to adapt and become resistant to the antibiotic’s effects. This means that even if you follow your doctor's instructions, there is a possibility that the bacteria will not be eliminated as effectively.
What should I tell the doctor before giving Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup to my child?
If your child has any underlying health conditions such as heart disease, genetic disorders involving blood vessels, seizures, psychiatric disorders, diabetes, photoallergy (an allergic reaction caused by sunlight), neuromuscular disorders, or rheumatoid arthritis, it's important to inform the doctor. Bactrojoy O Dry Syrup may interact with these conditions and potentially lead to complications.
