Suspension
Azitar Suspension is an antibiotic medication commonly given to children for the treatment of bacterial infections targeting the ear, eyes, nose, throat, lungs, skin, and gastrointestinal tract. It is essential to complete the entire course of this medicine to avoid the bacteria multiplying again or causing another infection.
Give Azitar Suspension with food to avoid an upset stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect.
Azitar Suspension is an antibiotic that works by interfering with the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to perform important functions. It stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading.
Complete the entire course of this medicine to avoid the bacteria multiplying again or causing another infection Give Azitar Suspension with food to avoid an upset stomach Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect Only give Azitar Suspension to your child for their current infection Stop the medicine and contact the doctor immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, and breathing difficulties soon after the intake
Azitar Suspension is unlikely to cause any harm if an extra dose is given accidentally. However, if you think you have given too much Azitar Suspension to your child, speak to a doctor immediately. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects and could worsen your child’s condition.
Serious side effects of this medicine include persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Always consult your child’s doctor for help in such a situation.
Azitar Suspension can sometimes interact with other medications or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Azitar Suspension. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not receive a vaccine until they recover from their illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered. However, always discuss vaccination schedule and potential interactions with your doctor.
The doctor may prescribe getting kidney function tests and liver function tests periodically to monitor your child's condition.
Children often have a sensitive stomach and develop upset after taking medicines. When antibiotics are taken, the good bacteria in their gastrointestinal tract may also be affected. Azitar Suspension might kill off beneficial bacteria as well as harmful ones, increasing your child's risk of developing other infections. In case your child experiences diarrhea while on Azitar Suspension, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your child’s doctor to discuss the next steps. The doctor may alter the dose.
The duration of treatment depends on the type of infection being treated and the age of the patient. Azitar Suspension is not necessarily given for 3 days. In most bacterial infections, a single dose of 500 mg is given for 3 days. Alternatively, it can be administered as 500 mg once on day 1 and then 250 mg once from day 2 to day 5. For some types of infection like genital ulcer disease, a single 1 gram dose is given. Therefore, you must follow the prescribed regimen.
It is generally recommended to avoid taking any antacids with this medicine because it can affect the effectiveness of Azitar Suspension. Additionally, it is advised to avoid prolonged sun exposure or tanning beds as Azitar Suspension increases the risk of sunburn.
Azitar Suspension is an effective antibiotic used to treat many bacterial infections. Compared to other antibiotics, Azitar Suspension has a longer half-life meaning it stays in the body for a long time, which is why it's given once daily for a short duration. Other antibiotics typically have a shorter half-life and require administration several times per day.
Some people may experience a fungal or yeast infection known as thrush after taking Azitar Suspension. Antibiotics like Azitar Suspension can kill the normal or ‘good bacteria’ of your intestine responsible for preventing thrush. If you experience a sore, vaginal itching, discharge or white patches in the mouth or tongue, inform your doctor immediately.
