Amoxycillin (400mg/5ml) + Clavulanic Acid (57mg/5ml)

Key Information

Short Description

Axcil CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract.

Dosage Form

Dry Syrup

Introduction

Axcil CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.

Directions for Use

Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.

Safety Information

Side Effects

Bitter taste in the mouth after intake Diarrhea Itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty (stop use and report to doctor immediately)

How it works

Axcil CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria.

Quick Tips

Complete the entire course of antibiotics Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops Never give Axcil CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor Do not give Axcil CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses Check 'expiry' before giving Axcil CV Dry Syrup to your child

Frequently asked questions

Can other medications be taken simultaneously with Axcil CV Dry Syrup?

It is possible for Axcil CV Dry Syrup to interact with other medications or substances. Before starting your child on this syrup, inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking.

Can my child receive vaccinations while being treated with Axcil CV Dry Syrup?

Antibiotics generally do not interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, it is recommended that children taking antibiotics wait until they recover from their illness before receiving a vaccine.

Which lab tests may be conducted on my child while taking Axcil CV Dry Syrup for an extended period?

Prolonged therapy may require periodic monitoring of kidney and liver function tests to ensure your child's condition remains stable.

Can I administer a higher dose of Axcil CV Dry Syrup to my child than recommended?

No, administering a higher dose than recommended can increase the risk of adverse effects. If your child experiences increased symptom severity, consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

Can I stop giving Axcil CV Dry Syrup to my child once their symptoms have subsided?

No, do not discontinue this medication unless the full treatment course is completed, even if your child feels better. The symptoms may improve before the infection is fully cured, so continue administering the medicine for the prescribed duration.

Can Axcil CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?

Yes, Axcil CV Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea due to its antibacterial properties and potential disruption of helpful bacteria in your child's stomach. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids, such as water or other hydrating beverages. If diarrhea persists and you notice signs of dehydration, consult your doctor.

Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infections?

Mostly, bacterial infections do not follow viral infections. Using antibiotics for viral infections can increase the risk of adverse effects. Only use antibiotics after consulting with your child's doctor.

What does yellow-green mucus in my child's nose signify?

Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily mean that antibiotics are needed. During a common cold, it is normal for mucus to thicken and change color. Symptoms often last 7-10 days.

Is there any sign indicating immediate medical attention is required?

If your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing problems, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting), seek immediate medical attention by contacting their doctor right away.
