Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet is an antibiotic that helps your body fight infections caused by bacteria. It is used to treat infections of the lungs (e.g., pneumonia), ear, nasal sinus, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue. It will not work for viral infections such as the common cold.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet is to be taken with food.

Alcohol Warning

Consuming alcohol with Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet does not cause any harmful side effects.

Breastfeeding Warning

Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

Pregnancy Warning

Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Amoxycillin and Clavulanic Acid. Amoxycillin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Amoxycillin against bacteria.

Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Do not take antacids 2 hours before or after taking Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet. Stop taking Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it. Do not use leftover medicine for treating any infection in the future. Always consult your doctor before taking any antibiotic. Stick to simple meals, avoid rich or spicy food and drink plenty of water while taking Augmentin 1000 Duo Tablet.
