Azelaic acid works by killing the acne-causing bacteria and reduces inflammation (redness and swelling) of the skin.
Apply it precisely only over the affected area. If irritation happens, stop using it and consult your doctor. If you have sensitive skin, you should apply Azelaic acid only once a day for the first week of treatment and then proceed to twice daily applications. Before applying the cream/gel, clean the skin thoroughly with plain water and make it dry. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth or other inner skin layers (mucous membranes). In case of accidental contact, wash immediately with large amounts of cold water. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Use exactly as recommended by your healthcare provider. As a guide, if your entire face is affected, use 2.5 cm (approximately 0.5 g) of cream each time. If you have acne on your chest and back in addition to your face, adjust the amount of cream accordingly.
The time it takes for Atag 15% Cream to improve acne varies from person to person. It depends on the severity of your acne at the start of treatment. Generally, you may see noticeable improvement after about 4 weeks. For best results, your doctor might recommend using Atag 15% Cream regularly for several months. However, it's important not to use it for more than 12 months consecutively.
Atag 15% Cream might cause changes in your skin color, especially if you have darker skin. If you notice any noticeable change in your skin color, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Atag 15% Cream works by killing the bacteria (Propionibacterium acnes) that causes acne. It also helps reduce the growth of tougher skin cells on the surface of your skin, which can block pores and lead to blackheads and whiteheads.
Before applying Atag 15% Cream, thoroughly wash the affected area with water. If your skin is greasy, use a mild cleanser. Ensure you dry the skin before applying the cream. After applying it, gently rub it in. Finally, wash your hands thoroughly after using the product.
Atag 15% Cream should be applied twice daily to the affected areas of your skin (morning and evening), unless your healthcare provider instructs otherwise. People with sensitive skin may use it only once a day (in the evening) for the first week of treatment. After that, they can proceed with applying it twice a day.
Atag 15% Cream is not approved for treating melasma. It should be used solely to manage acne and rosacea (a skin condition that causes redness, flushing, and pimples on the face). However, if prescribed by your healthcare provider, it might be used for melasma.
