Frequently asked questions
What is Asmecob 2500mcg Injection?
Asmecob 2500mcg Injection contains vitamin B12, an essential nutrient for the body. Vitamin B12 plays a role in red blood cell formation and maintaining a healthy nervous system. It also aids in energy release from food and uses vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can't I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
You can obtain vitamin B12 from sources like meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Vegetarians and vegans may not obtain enough vitamin B12 because it is not naturally present in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, a deficiency of vitamin B12 is commonly observed in these groups.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (where red blood cells become abnormally large). Additionally, it may lead to nerve problems like numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other possible symptoms include balance issues, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and mouth or tongue soreness.
Is Asmecob 2500mcg Injection safe?
Asmecob 2500mcg Injection is generally well-tolerated and considered safe. However, rare side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, anorexia, or rash may occur. Discontinue the use of this medicine if you experience a rash.
How should Asmecob 2500mcg Injection be administered?
Asmecob 2500mcg Injection can be administered directly into a vein (intravenously) or muscle (intramuscularly). The usual dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Asmecob 2500mcg Injection), given three times weekly. After two months, administer 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Asmecob 2500mcg Injection) every one to three months as part of maintenance therapy.
What precautions need to be taken when administering Asmecob 2500mcg Injection?
Avoid injecting the medication at the same site each time. If there is intense pain during injection or if blood flows back into the syringe, remove the needle and re-inject at a different location.
