Aptitrust Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate and sorbitol which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite-stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of a chemical messenger (serotonin) in the hypothalamus a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent which removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol as a result of which cholesterol level is lowered. Sorbitol acts as a syrup base and also as an osmotic laxative to relieve constipation.
Aptitrust Syrup helps stimulate your appetite. It may cause dizziness and drowsiness. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine as it can cause excessive drowsiness and increase your risk of stomach problems. Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
The use of Aptitrust Syrup can cause dry mouth in some patients. To manage this, drink plenty of water throughout the day and keep a glass nearby at night. You may also consider using lip balm if your lips become dry.
Yes, Aptitrust Syrup can cause dizziness or lightheadedness in some patients. If you experience these symptoms, it's best to rest for a while and resume your activities once you feel better. Avoid operating heavy machinery or driving until the dizziness passes.
