How it works
Apimox CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Apimox CV Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Apimox CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Apimox CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Apimox CV Dry Syrup to your child. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Apimox CV Dry Syrup?
Apimox CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Before starting Apimox CV Dry Syrup, it is important to tell your child's doctor about all other medications they are taking. Consultation with a healthcare professional before administering any medicine to your child is crucial.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Apimox CV Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently been vaccinated. However, children should avoid receiving a vaccine until they are fully recovered from the illness. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be administered.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Apimox CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
If treatment is extended, regular monitoring of kidney and liver function may be necessary to assess your child's condition. Your child’s doctor will determine the frequency and type of these checks.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Apimox CV Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a higher dose of Apimox CV Dry Syrup is not advisable. Dosage must be strictly followed to minimize potential side effects. Consult with your child’s doctor if you notice any worsening symptoms or see an increase in the severity of the condition.
Can I stop giving Apimox CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not discontinue Apimox CV Dry Syrup without completing the full course, even if you believe your child is symptom-free. The medication may continue to provide benefits for some time.
Can the use of Apimox CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Apimox CV Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea as it disrupts the balance of bacteria in the gut. This is a common side effect associated with antibiotics.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral infections do not lead to secondary bacterial infections. Antibiotics should only be prescribed by a healthcare professional for bacterial infections. Using antibiotics in the presence of viral infection can increase the risk of side effects.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
The yellow or green color of nasal mucus does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection during a common cold. It is normal for mucus to change in color and thickness as the illness progresses.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences symptoms such as severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal complications (diarrhea), or signs of liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These are rare but serious side effects and require professional evaluation.
