Aoxy-CV Oral Drops is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Aoxy-CV Oral Drops. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Stop Aoxy-CV Oral Drops immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.
Aoxy-CV Oral Drops may interact with other medications. Before starting treatment, tell your child's doctor about any other medications they are taking. It is also important to consult with a healthcare professional before administering any medication to your child.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in a child who has recently received one. However, it is recommended that your child not receive vaccinations until they have recovered from the illness, especially before starting any antibiotic treatment. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Periodically, a doctor may order kidney and liver function tests for extended treatment with Aoxy-CV Oral Drops to monitor the child's condition.
Do not exceed the recommended dosage as it may increase the risk of side effects. If your child experiences worsening symptoms, consult their doctor for a re-evaluation.
Do not discontinue treatment unless the complete course is finished. Symptoms may improve before the infection is fully eradicated. Continue the medication for the prescribed duration, as it could still provide benefits.
Yes, Aoxy-CV Oral Drops may cause diarrhea due to its effect on beneficial bacteria in the child’s stomach. Encourage your child to drink fluids if they experience diarrhea and consult a doctor if the issue persists or you notice signs of dehydration such as infrequent urination with dark urine.
While most viral infections do not lead to secondary bacterial infections, it is important to consult with a doctor to ensure the appropriate course of treatment. Antibiotics should only be used after consulting your child's doctor to avoid complications.
Yellow or green mucus from the nose during a common cold is normal and does not automatically signify a bacterial infection. The typical symptoms often subside in 7 to 10 days.
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (yellowing of the skin and eyes, fatigue). These are rare but serious side effects and require professional assessment.
