Introduction
Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines. Stop Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup immediately if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulty. Report to the doctor without any delay.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup?
Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medications or substances. Always inform your doctor about any other medications your child is taking before starting Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup. Consult your child's healthcare provider for guidance on administering any medicine to your child.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup?
While antibiotics generally don't interfere with vaccine ingredients or cause negative reactions in children who have recently received a vaccination, it's advisable to wait until the child fully recovers from their illness before administration of any vaccine. Once your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Periodically, the doctor may order kidney and liver function tests during extended treatment with Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup to monitor your child's condition.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup to my child?
Giving a dosage exceeding the recommended amount for this medication increases the risk of side effects. If you notice an increase in your child's symptoms, consult with their healthcare provider for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
You must not discontinue this medication until the full course of treatment has been completed. Even if your child feels better, the infection may not be fully eradicated. Therefore, continue the prescribed dose as it may still provide benefits.
Can Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Aoxy-CV Dry Syrup can cause diarrhea as it is an antibiotic that kills bacteria. Additionally, this medication might affect the beneficial bacteria in your child's stomach and result in diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water or other fluids if they experience diarrhea. Consult your doctor if the diarrhea persists and notice any signs of dehydration (reduced urine frequency with dark-colored and strong-smelling urine). Seek guidance from your doctor before giving any additional medication to your child.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral cold infections don't lead to bacterial infections. In fact, administering antibiotics during a viral infection can increase the risk of side effects and complications. It's crucial to use antibiotics only after consulting with your child’s doctor.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose doesn't automatically indicate the need for antibiotics. During common colds, mucus thickness and color can change from clear to yellow or green. The symptoms often resolve within 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While these side effects are rare, they require expert care.
