Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Never give Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. You must also never share your child’s medicine with anyone else even if they show similar symptoms.
No common side effects listed.
Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Your child may have a bitter taste in the mouth after the intake of Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Do not give Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup to anyone else even if they show similar symptoms. Check ‘expiry’ before giving Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup to your child. Immediately discard all the expired medicines.
Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup may interact with certain medications. It is important to inform your child's doctor about all medications they are taking before starting this medication, and seek their advice on any possible interactions.
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have recently received a vaccine. However, it is recommended to delay vaccination until your child has recovered from their illness unless otherwise advised by your child's doctor.
Periodically, the doctor may order blood and liver function tests during prolonged treatment with Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup to assess your child's overall well-being.
Giving a higher dose of this medication can increase the risk of side effects. Please consult your child's doctor if they experience increased symptoms.
Do not discontinue this medication before completing the entire course, even if you feel better. Symptoms may improve before complete eradication of infection.
Yes, Amoxylla-DS Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea as a side effect. This medication kills bacteria; it can also affect beneficial bacteria in your child's digestive system, leading to diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids if experiencing diarrhea. If the diarrhea persists or you notice signs of dehydration (reduced urination with dark urine), consult your doctor before giving any additional medication.
While many cases of viral infections don't lead to secondary bacterial infections, antibiotics are generally not needed for treating viral colds. Please consult your child's doctor before starting any antibiotics.
Thick, yellow or green mucus in the nose is common during a cold and doesn't necessarily mean there's a bacterial infection. Most colds last 7 to 10 days.
Seek immediate medical attention if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing difficulties, skin rashes), gastrointestinal issues (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These side effects are rare but require immediate medical attention.
