Introduction
Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup?
Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup may interact with other medicines or substances. It is crucial to inform your child's doctor about all medications they are taking before starting Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup. Additionally, consulting a medical professional regarding any medication for your child is advisable.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics generally do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause adverse reactions in children who have been recently vaccinated. However, it's recommended to delay vaccination until your child is fully recovered from any illness before starting treatment. Once symptoms improve, the vaccine can be administered as per your doctor's guidance.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
During prolonged therapy, your child's doctor might monitor kidney and liver function tests periodically to assess their health condition. These tests help identify any potential issues related to the long-term use of antibiotics.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup to my child?
No, exceeding the recommended dosage can increase the risk of adverse effects. If your child experiences worsened symptoms, it's important to contact their doctor for re-evaluation.
Can I stop giving Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
No, do not discontinue medication without a complete course of treatment. It's essential to finish the full dosage even if your child feels better. This ensures that the medicine continues to provide potential benefits and prevent possible complications from residual infection.
Can the use of Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Amoxylive CV Dry Syrup can lead to diarrhea due to its action as an antibiotic. It also disrupts the natural balance of bacteria in your child's stomach, leading to potential diarrhea. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids and consult a doctor if diarrhea persists. Always contact a medical professional for advice before administering any other medication.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
It is not common for viral infections to cause bacterial infection. However, it's important to seek professional guidance for proper diagnosis and treatment. Antibiotics should only be used after consulting a doctor when necessary.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green mucus in the nose does not necessarily indicate a bacterial infection, even though it can be a symptom of a viral infection. This type of mucus often thickens during common colds and changes color from clear to yellow or green. Symptoms usually last for 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Seek medical assistance immediately if your child experiences serious allergic reactions (breathing difficulty, skin rash), gastrointestinal problems (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). These side effects are less common but require expert care. Don't hesitate to call a doctor in these cases.
