Introduction
Amokav Duo Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine that helps treat bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, chest, lungs, teeth, skin, and urinary tract. It is capable of killing bacteria that have become resistant to other therapies and thus also helps treat tuberculosis that is resistant to other treatments.
Directions for Use
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection.
How it works
Amokav Duo Dry Syrup is an antibiotic. It has two active agents amoxycillin and clavulanic acid. Amoxycillin works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) essential for the survival of the bacteria. Whereas clavulanic acid serves a special purpose of inhibiting an enzyme (beta-lactamase) that is produced by resistant bacteria. This makes the combination of amoxycillin and clavulanic acid an effective line of treatment for many types of infections.
Quick Tips
Your child must complete the entire course of antibiotics. Stopping too soon may cause the bacteria to multiply again or cause another infection. Encourage your child to drink plenty of water in case diarrhea develops as a side effect. Never give Amokav Duo Dry Syrup until and unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not give Amokav Duo Dry Syrup to treat common cold and flu-like symptoms caused by viruses. Never save medicine for future illnesses.

Frequently asked questions
Can other medicines be given at the same time as Amokav Duo Dry Syrup?
Amokav Duo Dry Syrup may interact with other medications. It is essential to inform your child's doctor about any other drugs or supplements your child is taking before using this medication, and always consult your child's healthcare provider for guidance on administering any new medicine.
Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Amokav Duo Dry Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a negative reaction in children who have recently received them. However, it is best to wait until your child has recovered from the illness before administering any vaccinations.
Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Amokav Duo Dry Syrup on a long-term basis?
Regular monitoring of kidney and liver function is important during long-term use. This may involve periodic lab tests to evaluate your child's overall health.
Can I give a higher than the recommended dose of Amokav Duo Dry Syrup to my child?
It is not recommended to exceed the prescribed dose of this medication. Increasing the dosage may lead to increased side effects, such as those mentioned in the instructions.
Can I stop giving Amokav Duo Dry Syrup to my child when the symptoms are relieved?
Do not discontinue treatment with this medication until the full course is completed. Even if your child feels better, it's important to continue the prescribed dosage as the medicine might still be providing beneficial effects.
Can the use of Amokav Duo Dry Syrup cause diarrhea?
Yes, Amokav Duo Dry Syrup may cause diarrhea. This is a common side effect due to its antibiotic nature and potentially affects beneficial bacteria in the child's gut. Encourage your child to drink fluids, especially water. If diarrhea persists or signs of dehydration appear (less frequent urination with dark, strong-smelling urine), consult your child's doctor before administering other medications.
Do all viral common colds result in secondary bacterial infection?
Most viral cold infections are self-limiting and do not typically lead to bacterial infections. Antibiotics should only be administered after consulting with a healthcare provider if a bacterial infection is suspected or confirmed.
The mucus coming out of my child’s nose is yellow-green. Is it a sign of a bacterial infection?
Yellow or green nasal discharge is not necessarily indicative of a bacterial infection and does not always require antibiotic treatment during the common cold. It's normal for mucus to change consistency as the body combats the virus. These symptoms typically last 7-10 days.
Is there any sign which shows that my child needs immediate medical attention?
Call your child's doctor immediately if you notice signs of a serious allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, skin rashes), gastrointestinal infection (diarrhea), or liver damage (weakness, paleness, vomiting). While rare, these are serious side effects that require expert medical care.
