Frequently asked questions
What is Amcobal 1500mcg Injection?
Amcobal 1500mcg Injection is a form of vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body needs to make red blood cells and maintain a healthy nervous system. It also plays a role in releasing energy from food and using vitamin B11 (folic acid).
Why can’t I get sufficient vitamin B12 in my diet?
Vitamin B12 is found naturally in meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. However, those following a vegetarian or vegan diet may experience difficulty obtaining enough Vitamin B12 as it's not naturally present in fruits, vegetables, and grains. Therefore, a deficiency in vitamin B12 might be observed in people who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet.
What happens if I have vitamin B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to several symptoms like fatigue and weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, weight loss, and megaloblastic anemia (a condition where red blood cells become larger than usual). It may also result in nerve problems such as numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. Other possible side effects include issues with balance, depression, confusion, dementia, poor memory, and soreness of the mouth or tongue.
Is Amcobal 1500mcg Injection safe?

Amcobal 1500mcg Injection can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly. The standard dose is 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Amcobal 1500mcg injection) and it’s usually given three times a week. After two months, 1 ampoule (0.5 mg of Amcobal 1500mcg Injection) is administered every one to three months as part of the maintenance therapy.
