Tablet
Alur 300mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat and prevent gout. Gout happens when there is too much uric acid in your body and it forms into crystals that can appear around your joints and kidneys and cause pain. This medicine helps to keep uric acid levels low.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Alur 300mg Tablet is to be taken with food.
Alur 300mg Tablet is a xanthine oxidase inhibitor. It works by decreasing blood uric acid which is the chemical that causes gout.
Take Alur 300mg Tablet with food to avoid stomach upset. Take plenty of fluids (2-3 litres) daily while on Alur 300mg Tablet. Notify your doctor if you develop a rash. This could be a sign of allergy and should go away on discontinuing Alur 300mg Tablet. When you first start taking this medicine you might have more gout attacks. Do not stop Alur 300mg Tablet on having an acute attack of gout as that could make an attack worse. Do not consume alcohol while taking this medicine as it may cause your gout to flare up.
Alur 300mg Tablet can be taken at any time of day, but it is best to take it around the same time each day for easier memory. It is usually prescribed once daily and should be taken after meals. If your dose exceeds 300 mg or if you experience stomach upset, you may take it in divided doses as instructed by your doctor.
Although taking Alur 300mg Tablet may help reduce the frequency of attacks, you might still experience an increase in gout (severe pain, swelling, and redness). However, these attacks should become less severe over time. The possibility of increased attacks could stem from a gradual breakdown of uric acid crystals, leading to fluctuating uric acid levels in your blood. Your doctor may recommend taking colchicine along with Alur 300mg Tablet, as it can help suppress gouty attacks.
It may take several months before you start feeling better or notice significant reductions in gout attacks (severe pain, swelling, and redness). Initial gouty attacks may occur after starting Alur 300mg Tablet. Continue taking Alur 300mg Tablet even if you don't experience immediate relief from the attacks. Consult your doctor before stopping medication without their guidance. Your doctor may prescribe other medications to prevent initial attacks, which could take several years for complete uric acid crystal clearance.
It is advised to refrain from consuming alcohol when taking Alur 300mg Tablet, as it can worsen your condition. Additionally, avoiding foods high in protein is recommended as this may prevent gout attacks. Please consult your doctor for a detailed list of food items that should be avoided. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water or other fluids per day while taking Alur 300mg Tablet, unless advised otherwise by your doctor, is also highly recommended.
Yes, Alur 300mg Tablet may induce drowsiness in some individuals. It can even lead to dizziness or difficulties with coordination.
