Agonin 25mg Tablet helps treat depression by reducing and eliminating symptoms such as deep sadness, feelings of worthlessness, loss of interest in activities, sleep disturbances, tiredness, feelings of anxiety, and weight changes.
Tablet
Agonin 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, preferably at bedtime. It is advised to take it at a fixed time each day to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the blood. If you have missed any doses, take it as soon as you remember and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor as it may worsen your symptoms.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Agonin 25mg Tablet may be taken with or without food but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Some common side effects of this medicine include headache, nausea, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia (difficulty sleeping), and back pain. Other side effects that may also be observed are stomach pain, changes in body weight, diarrhea, and increased liver enzymes.
Caution is advised when consuming alcohol with Agonin 25mg Tablet. Please consult your doctor.

Agonin 25mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Agonin 25mg Tablet is a melatonin agonist. It works by resynchronizing the sleep-wake cycle that is disturbed in depression.
You have been prescribed Agonin 25mg Tablet for the treatment of depression. It may take a few weeks for this medicine to start working. Keep taking it as prescribed. It should be taken at bedtime. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Agonin 25mg Tablet can cause dizziness and sleepiness. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine as that may lead to increased side effects.
Inform your doctor if you are allergic to agomelatine or any other ingredients in this medicine, if you have liver dysfunction (hepatic impairment), or if you are currently taking any other antidepressants or antibiotics.
This medicine can cause further serious or even life-threatening liver damage. If you have pre-existing liver problems, inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe stomach pain (upper right side), dark urine, clay-colored stools, tiredness, itching, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Your doctor will advise you on how to discontinue your previous medication when starting Agonin 25mg Tablet. You may experience discontinuation symptoms like dizziness, numbness, sleep disturbances, agitation or anxiety, headaches, feeling sick, being sick, and shaking. These effects are usually mild to moderate and disappear spontaneously within a few days. Report any worsening of these symptoms to your doctor immediately.
Store in the original packaging to protect from moisture. This medicine does not require special temperature storage conditions. Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
This medicine is not recommended for the treatment of depression in patients under 18 years old, as its safety and efficacy have not been established in this age group.
