Afrid S Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Metronidazole, Sucralfate, and Povidone Iodine. Metronidazole is an antibiotic that kills the bacteria and other microorganisms that cause infections by damaging the DNA. Sucralfate is an anti-ulcer medicine that covers the damaged tissue and protects it against injury to facilitate healing. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic that slowly releases iodine, which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms.

Afrid S Ointment may take several weeks to show its action. Keep using it as suggested by your doctor. Wash your skin with a mild cleanser and pat it dry before applying Afrid S Ointment. Apply it as a thin layer onto clean, dry, unbroken skin affected by the infection. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the cream in these areas. It is advisable not to touch or scratch the infected area as it can worsen the situation.
