Aflocin - R Oral Suspension is an antibiotic used to treat acute diarrhea caused by bacterial infections in children.
Oral Suspension
Aflocin - R Oral Suspension is usually given to children to treat acute diarrhea caused due to bacterial infections. It helps relieve the symptoms, severity, and duration of illness by killing the diarrhea-causing microorganism and reducing the loss of water and electrolytes.
Give Aflocin - R Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix Aflocin - R Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects.
Aflocin - R Oral Suspension contains two medicines: Racecadotril and ofloxacin. Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor that has anti-secretory effects, reducing the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and causing infection.
Loose, watery diarrhea can lead to loss of fluids and essential salts from your child's body. Make sure to replenish this in the form of ORS (Oral rehydration solution) to combat dehydration. Do not give any calcium, magnesium, iron, vitamin, or antacid within 2 hours of taking Aflocin - R Oral Suspension as these can affect the absorption of the medicine. Give Aflocin - R Oral Suspension only for whom it is prescribed. Never share the medicines as it can harm. Do not mix Aflocin - R Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as that may cause unwanted side effects. Do not give Aflocin - R Oral Suspension if your child has persistent uncontrolled vomiting as this medicine will not be absorbed.
While an extra dose of Aflocin - R Oral Suspension is unlikely to harm, you must immediately contact the doctor. Overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). So, if you think you have given too much to your child, rush to your child's doctor on an immediate basis.
It is not advised to give Aflocin - R Oral Suspension to children who are intolerant to dairy products/milk as Aflocin - R Oral Suspension contains lactose.
Aflocin - R Oral Suspension may interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Aflocin - R Oral Suspension. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
The use of Aflocin - R Oral Suspension in chronic diarrhea has not been sufficiently studied. Therefore, it is best to consult your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
