Introduction

The Accurex Viral Transport Kit is a unique product that combines Hank's balanced salt solution, protective protein, antibiotics, and buffers to control microbial and fungal contamination. It also contains a cryoprotectant to preserve viruses during prolonged storage. The kit includes a flocked polyester swab with a short perpendicular ultra-facile plastic shaft for efficient collection and release of particulate matter.

Ask the patient to blow their nose to clear nasal passage of excessive mucus.Tilt the patient's head back at 70 degrees.Insert the swab into the nostril.Leave in place for 5-10 seconds to absorb secretions.Slowly remove swab while rotating.Place the tip of the swab into a sterile viral transport media tube and snap off the applicator stick.Ensure the lid is tightly closed.Place specimen container in a biohazard transport bag
